DEBUT ALBUM

With “MY NAME IS ROCK”, we release an album that literally went through hell and almost fell victim to its circumstances. The production of the powerful follow-up to “The Voice Within” (2021) was severely delayed in January 2023 after a devastating house fire destroyed the home of frontman Max Roxton & his partner, as well as parts of the band’s own recording studio. Numerous other setbacks nearly prevented the album’s release entirely. But the band rebuilt, fought their way through this chapter of their lives, and now deliver a work that proves their unwavering resilience & passion.

The emotional turmoil of that time – ironically – perfectly mirrors the album’s core theme: We are kids of the late ’80s and early ’90s – the last generation to grow up in a purely analog world, and the first to experience the complete digital transformation. The musical influences of cassette, CD, and the MP3 era are clearly audible, as the album sounds like a bridge between two worlds: a critical reflection and a call for a more responsible approach to the digital present – while at the same time a nostalgic tribute to an era when rock music still dominated the mainstream. In many ways, it unites the best of both worlds in one body of work.

The Sound of the In-Between Generation:

We use our unique perspective to explore every facet of modern rock. Stylistic boundaries practically don’t exist, yet the sound remains classically “rocky” in instrumentation (guitars, bass, drums, tambourine) and thrives on the power of distinctive vocal harmonies from four singers.

Music that Unites:

Tracks like the ’80s-inspired anthem “Revival”, the title track “My Name is Rock”, and the feel-good rock song “21st Century Radio” celebrate the sounds that shaped the band.

Critique & Appeal:

The nu-metal influences in “Crisis or Game” and the lyrical sharpness of “Sorrow” (bonus track) and “All in Vain” process themes of social division, political deceit, and ecological crisis.

No Boxes:

From a pop-punk duet (“Sooner or Later”) to groove rock (“The Groove The Sound”), the band proves that “MY NAME IS ROCK” is an album that doesn’t fit into any single era – it unites them all.

This LP shows that music – whether on vinyl or streaming – is still the strongest unifying force. It’s a kind of bridge between people. With ‘MY NAME IS ROCK’, we remind everyone of that and aim to make this connection audible and tangible again.

How our personality develops and how it affects our lives is one of the questions ROXTON tackles on its debut album. Having wandered through some uncomfortable phases of life himself, in this album he focuses on the most diverse facets of human existence. He is primarily concerned with addressing and speaking out about taboo subjects and offering alternative perspectives.

Monotony? None! Whether melancholic or enthusiastic, carrying or driving: ROXTON impresses with its songs both instrumentally and vocally and moves in a stylistic variety that is unparalleled. Polyphonic harmonies, shouts full of character as well as powerful riffs make his songs absolute must-hears for all rock and metal fans!
